Road rehabilitation works in Stikland Bellville
12 January 2026
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate has commenced with road rehabilitation works along La Belle Road between Strand Road and Willow Street in Stikland, Bellville. The work started this Monday, 12 January 2026, and is scheduled to continue until Friday, 31 July 2026. Work will take place from 07:00 to 17:00, Monday to Saturday, weather permitting and subject to unforeseen delays.
‘The City is starting the year with much-needed road rehabilitation works in Stikland. The affected road is currently in a poor condition and requires comprehensive upgrades. I would like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience over the next six months while construction is under way. These improvements form part of ongoing efforts to keep Cape Town moving. Once completed, the project will deliver a safer, more reliable road, improved stormwater infrastructure and upgraded sidewalks,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The roadworks entail the:
- Rehabilitation of the existing pavement sub-base, base layer and wearing course.
- Repairs to sidewalks by placing new surfacing where required.
- Realignment and replacement of channels and kerbs where required.
- Reinstatement of all road markings removed during the process.
Congestion can be expected therefore road users are urged to use alternative routes while work is under way. Road users are asked to exercise caution while work is underway; lower their speed, pay attention to road signs, be vigilant in and around the roadworks area, look out for uneven road surfaces, be mindful of the construction workers and obey flag personnel instructions.
